York City want to keep McEvoy

York City want to make the loan move of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Kenneth McEvoy permanent. The 21-year-old (22 next September) has only played two games during his one-month loan spell. The pacey Irish Under-21 winger is wanted for the remaining four months of the season to try and help York City avoid relegation from the Football League.

Currently, they sit bottom of League Two and McEvoy has only managed 177 minutes for them. He played 90 minutes against Accrington Stanley on November 28, on the left sided midfield attacker, then 56 minutes on December 12 against Bristol Rovers away on the right of the three. He followed that up on December 19 with a 13-minute substitute appearance on the left of their attacking three against Morecambe.

He was on the bench for the trip to Mansfield Town and came on after 64 minutes against Yeovil on Saturday ahead of the end on his loan spell today. York City chief Jackie McNamara told the YorK Press he wants McEvoy until the end of the season.

“We’re hoping to make Kenny McEvoy’s move permanent. He’s been out of the team for the last two or three games because of the form of others, but we changed things around in the second half (at Yeovil) and he brought an injection of pace.
“I think that’s crucial at this level and, every time he gets on the ball, he puts a good cross into the box as well.
