Against clubs in the top half, Everton's record is not great this season. They have played 10 won 0 drawn 5 and lost 5 while Tottenham with the best defensive record in the league have only conceded more than one goal once away from home.
Everton fans are calling for Martinez to be sacked. That isn't a healthy environment the supporters are helping to create. The press picks up the baton and runs with it fueling the negative supporters further. The fans have an impact on the environment they help to create so sticking their heads in the sand and not changing their mentality to a winning mentality does play its part.
We have a traveling band of believers who understand what it is to support Spurs through thick or thin. They understand that when we have a setback they have a part to play, they can give that little lift in spirits that sparks inside the players. Something bad happens, we concede a goal, are our away fans doom and gloom, we have not won anything since 2008 or do they cheer like warriors, like winners. They appreciate they must drive the lads on, they must say here we are we believe in you, we are following you.
That support doesn't go unnoticed and it can generate a spark, a spark that says we can't let these supporters down. That spark can drive the players to succeed, to score and to score again. The noise those away fans make is important, it creates an environment to breed success.
If our away fans were the doom and gloom merchants promoted on other websites then they would be having a detrimental affect on the team. Less noise, silence for our players, like it or not it would have an effect.
