Batshuayi summer signing would affect transfer business now
What Spurs want and indeed are working towards in the summer affects transfer business in January. There are calls all around for a striker to be signed this month, but Spurs are working on securing 22-year-old (23 next September) Michy Batshuayi in the summer.
He isn't leaving Marseille this month as he has regular football there and that is the best chance he has of making the French squad for the 2016 European Championships. Get French Football News believe they have information that suggest the striker is joining Spurs in the summer.
If that is the case then that would affect any signings now, they would either have to be one of three or a short-term signing and we don't go in for short-term loans now, only players on a permanent basis who will enhance the squad or evolve into players capable of doing so.

While fans claim Son, Njie, Chadli can't replace Kane, few would have said Eric Dier would be a standout defensive midfielder so perhaps we should trust Pochettino.
Batshuayi has constantly been linked with Newcastle in the press, however, he has let it be known that he isn't interested in a move to the Toon, he is interested in a move to Tottenham though.
