Shots leading the league

The recent chance table article showed Spurs sitting 4th and the chance difference (chances created minus chances conceded) table sitting 5th. After the weekend round of games, Tottenham overtook Liverpool to move 3rd for chances created and remained in 4th in the chances difference table.

Against West Han United on Sunday, Spurs has 12 shots on target, the most by any side in a single Premier League game this season.

Currently, Spurs have scored 24 goals in 13 games, on;y Manchester City 27 and Leicester Coty 28 have more. Our goal tally is helped by the fact we sit top of the league for shots on target with 87.

Premier League Shots on Target Table Top 3

  1. Tottenham Hotspur 87 (41.04%)
  2. Manchester City 86 (34.91%)
  3. Arsenal 81 (34.91%)

We have out-shot the opposition in all but three games and in one of these, Manchester United we had 9 shots each, Stoke City and Manchester City. Apart from these Premier League games we haven't conceded more than 4 shots on target in any game while in 9 games we have had 6 or more shots on target.

We have already played four of last season's top seven and yet there are only three sides who have spent more time in winning positioned than Spurs (West Ham, Manchester Unites, Arsenal). Prior to the game on Monday there was only one side who have spent less time in a losing position than us (Crystal Palace) and I haven't looked at the difference that made yet, although Sunderland scored late on so it may not have made too much difference.
