Arsenal and Chelsea fixture problem for Spurs

Fans like to believe that the Europa League has a detrimental effect on Premier League results, but some sides have little problem with it, Everton have had many sesons where it hasn't affected their final league position.

Given the size of our squad and the fact we have plenty of youngsters who need game time we should be able to play a second X! in several games, players like Tom Carroll, Alex Pritchard, Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier, Michel Vorm, Andros Townsend (if he is still here) and Dele Alli.

UEFA Europa League Fixtures
Thurs. September 17: Qarabag (H)
Thurs. October 1: Monaco (A)
Thurs. October 22: Anderlecht (A)
Thurs. November 5: Anderlecht (H)
Thurs. November 26: Qarabag (A)
Thurs. December 10: Monaco (H)

There shouldn't be too many first X! players who need to play or indeed travel. What Pochettino will have to do is plan ahead and look at the fixtures after the UEFA Europa League games to see who he can leave out and leave at home.

If we want to play UEFA Champions League football then we have to be able to handle two games a week, we'll have to do it then so if we can't handle it now we have no chance of handling it if and when we make the Champions League. It's a false argument that we need to be out of Europe, we in fact need to be in it, in addition we won't attract any players if we are not.

We play Anderlecht (Belgium) at home followed by Arsenal away and Qarabag (Afghanistan) away followed by Chelsea at home. Those two Premier League fixtures we'll need to have fresh players for which will need to be planned weeks ahead. Our fixtures following Europa League games are;

Premier League Fixtures
Sun. September 20: Crystal Palace (H)
Sun. October 4: Swansea City (A)
Sun. October 25: Bournemouth (A)
Sun. November 8: Arsenal (A)

Sun. November 29: Chelsea (H)
Sat. December 12: Newcastle (H) [will move to Sun]

If most of the first team are not travelling and are not playing they should maintain freshness, it will be important to start the European campaign fast. If we can secure three points from each of the first three games has to be the objective so we have qualification almost if not secured we can prepare better for those two games.

Should we do that or should we be saying all games are important and three points in any game is vital, it's a juggling act which we may not have got right last year. How we Pochettino deploy our resources this season?
