Are their 50 better players than Lamela in the Premier League?

Some fans shout that Lamela showed great promise towards the end of last season when in fact all he did was what countless other Premier League players did.

He improved, but then that wasn't hard, he has been poor since he joined us, but did nothing that suggested he is going to be anything other than average. You know my view that the talent is in his feet but it isn't in his head, mentally he doesn't have it yet.

Let's put Lamela into perspective, he scored 2 goals and had 7 assists in the Premier League last season.

There were 169 players who scored 2 or more Premier League goals
There were 14 players who provided more than 7 assists in the Premier League
There were 50 players who had more than 9 goals and assists combined in the Premier League

Now you could argue that being joint 51st in the Premier League is not bad but you could quite easily argue isn't isn't that good either and there are plenty of players who can do a better job.

I say once again we should be working on his head, we should have him working with a sports psychologist each week, if not each day, to turn him into the player we thought we had bought. We have failed Roberto Soldado in that respect, we should not be committing the same offence with Lamela, we should be learning from our mistake and bringing in a professional to help Pochettino unlock players potential.
