Spurs look to Swiss international

This week should see Etienne Capoue leave Tottenham for Vicarage Road and newly promoted Watford. He may be joined by his fellow French midfielder Benjamin Stambouli.

Further forward there is an issue with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, without moving them it is difficult to bring anyone in, between them they earn £170,000-a-week (US$264,512 - AUS$353,781 - €239,707). Adebayor will only leave if he gets a golden handshake for his dedicated and loyal service, not foe him a gold watch or carriage clock.

It seems clear to me that we are looking for another young striker and an experienced one to replace the pair. More so than in other areas of the team a new striker perhaps may only be able to be bought in when one is sold. The process will be an agreed deal to sell waiting for us to identify and have a deal in principle agreed for a signing or vice versa.

The latest name we have been linked with is Breel Embolo. He looks to be a Development Squad target though being just 18 (19 in February). He plays for Swiss Super League team Basel and the press have thrown a £10 million (US$15.57m - AUS$20.71m - €14.01m) price tag at him.

Embolo is right footed and plays as a striker or secondary striker or on the right wing. The Swiss international has appeared in 33 Super League games scoring 11 goals with 7 assists. He has played 1,963 minutes, thus scoring a goal every 178 minutes and having a hand in a goal every 109 minutes. He has figured in 8 UEFA Champions League games scoring 1 goal with 1 assist in 446 minutes, He has also played 28 minutes in the UEFA Europa League.
