Mike Ashley is not a Spurs fan
The general consensus of opinion is that Mike Ashley is a Spurs fan, but apparently he isn't, he is a Newcastle United fan and always wore a Newcastle shirt as a kid.
A Geordie website, The Mag, tell the story of their hated owner as a child as retold by a childhood friend at a barbecue. He tells of walking to school while his mum finished around the house before leaving for work herself only to see Ashley in a panic trying to rush to school. She gave him a lift and this happened on a regular basis, but Ashley had simply worked out when she left and gone into this act to get free lifts.
As a youngster, he always wore a Newcastle shirt and his schoolmates knew him as a Newcastle fan, he had no interest in Tottenham. Quite frankly that's good news, he hasn't exactly been a roaring success at Newcastle thus far.
