The Lloris and Kane rubbish

The latest round of rubbish written by the regurgitators of news out there is that Tottenham are trying to fend off Manchester United interest in Lloris and Kane by handing them captaincy roles.

It's complete rubbish, what have we actually done? We have told the current playing captain he will be club captain and told the unofficial vice-captain that he will be vice-captain. Shock horror.

Do these people seriously think we would appoint captains simply to ward off interest? What if they were unfit for the role, would we still appoint them? Harry Kane, it is well documented, was giving half-time team talks last season, he took over the captaincy when Lloris was missing, were we fending off interest then? He was the one talking to the media, that's the captain or vice-captain's role.

He is a youngster in a young side but as we can all see he had the right mental attitude, he has the winning mentality we need in our players.

Harry Kane has been on the Claire Balding show on TV and told her he doesn't want to leave Spurs, he has told the media and despite all the press stories Manchester United know neither player is leaving. That, of course, doesn't sell newspapers, which is basically what transfer gossip is for. People moan about it and claim they are sick and tired of it but then still continue to read it all. Mainstream press stories often have to be taken with a pinch of salt

Hugo Lloris spent most of last season as the captain after Younes Kaboul blotted his copybook. He was removed from media duties with Vertonghen and Fazio giving interviews. As the season evolved, Lloris and Kane became more prominent.

A major business and Tottenham are a major business, do not run themselves in such an amateurish way as we are reading everywhere. Hugo Lloris will be appointed captain because he is the captain, Harry Kane will be appointed vice-captain because he is an unofficial vice-captain. It's that simple.
