Salah to decide his own destination

Fiorentina badly want Egyptian international Mohamad Salah to stay in Italy after his loan spell there last season from Premier League champions Chelsea.

The former Basel winger is believed to prefer to stay in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino wants the 22-year-old winger to move to White Hart Lane. Chelsea would rather not sell to a rival and would prefer he moved to Italy.

Both clubs have submitted bids with the Spurs bid believed to be the higher of the two and could also offer him better wages, Inter Milan are also known to be interested. Chelsea bought Salah for £11.79 million (US$18.04m - AUS$23.59m - €16.05m) in January 2014 but after he flopped at Chelsea they loaned him out in February for the remainder of the season.

While Chelsea want £18 million (US$27.54m - AUS$36.02m - €24.51m) for him neither bid values the player that highly and with the pound being strong against the euro at the moment it is expensive for Italian clubs to buy players from the Premier League. Chelsea often work the loan system in this way, they buy players as investments, loan them out and sell them on at a profit, though what they are expecting for Salah is unrealistic, he hasn't improved from when they signed him and having failed in the Premier League is arguably worth less than what they paid for him.
There is little or no chance of Chelsea keeping him so they have to find a solution and it is believed Salah wants a resolution soon.

In 16 Serie A games he scored 6 goals and had 3 assists, a goal every 152 minutes and a goal or assist every 101 minutes. In addition to Serie A he played in the UEFA Europa League, the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the Coppa Italia, the FA Cup and the League Cup last season, 7 different tournaments.

An experienced international, he has 22 goals in 35 appearances he returned to his best in Italy. He really came to the attention of Spurs fans at White Hart Lane when Basel embarrassed us at the Lane in the quarter-final of the UEFA Europa League, we eventually managed to drag a draw out of the game.

The Italians have a loan option when they could buy him at the end of next season but Salah himself hasn't yet announced his destination.
