Monaco temp Llorente with wage increase

Another suitor has emerged for Tottenham target, Fernando Llorente. After Galatasaray threw their hat in the ring, so now have Monaco.

Having to adjust themselves to the financial climate Financial Fair Play has induced, Monaco have been looking to offload high earners, sell stars at huge profits and buy replacements. With reports in the French press saying they wanted £23.49 million (US$34.12m - AUS$43.96m - €30m) for 22-year-old defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, Inter Milan then paid £28.47 million (US$44.73m - AUS$58.18m - €40m) Things change quickly during a transfer window.

At Juventus Llorente earns 4.5 million EUR per season and Monaco have offered to raise that to 5 million EUR. That equates to £68,462-a-week (US$107,509 - AUS$139,789 - €96,115).  Liverpool, Sevilla and Benfica are also after the 30-year-old Spaniard. Sevilla can, of course, offer him UEFA Champions League football in his home country but will they be able to match his wages.

With Juventus having four other strikers, there seems no place for him there and he will have a choice to make, Premier League football, go home to Spain, follow the money in Monaco or turkey, which I don't see him doing myself, he'll surely want to stay in one of the five main leagues in Europe.
