Demba Ba leaves Besiktas, destination not WBA

Several clubs were keen on bringing Demba Ba back to the Premier League from Turkish side Beşiktaş, whom he joined after leaving Chelsea.

He is a genuine goalscorer and has been linked with Spurs on numerous occasions. He has the experience and could have been an option as we look to bring in another young striker and an experienced one.

It seems the 30-year-old Senegalese striker is chasing the cash as Beşiktaş management met him in Paris and let him know they were prepared to accept a £9.98 million (US$10.84m - AUS$20.43m - €14m) offer from Chinese Super League team Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, according to a report in Turkey.

Beşiktaş, who recently lost their manager Slaven Bilić to West Ham United, need to raise transfer funds before they can dip into the market and Demba Ba, being a goalscorer, is a saleable asset.

The transfer is expected to be announced within the next couple of days which will disappoint WBA as they are particularly keen to sign him.
