Chadli not a worry next season

Player Assessment: Naxer Chadli

Today at Tottenham Hotspur Blog News I will continue taking a look at our players from last season and staying with the wide attackers come wingers come, inverted wingers, it's Nacer Chadli's turn.

Nacer Chadli

After a difficult first season for him where to be frank he produces very little, Nacer Chadli sprung into life this season. It was however, a season of two halves for him and demonstrated once again what a big part of sport the brain is.

The season began with Nacer interchanging with his fellow attackers and popping up on the opposite side of the penalty box to score. He consistently saved us with his goals (6 in 10 games) but at home that movement stopped for some reason and we struggled. It was the death of his father that threw him though and after that he understandably didn't look the same player. Defensively at times he was non-existent and he didn't seem to know what to do when he had the ball. Having lost my father last season it certainly does throw you and concentrating on football is a long way down the list, whether it be your livelihood or not.

Without really discovering his form he still managed a few vital goals towards the end of the season so he has to get a thumbs up from Spurs fans. With Lamela and Townsend providing no goal threat from the right and initially Emmanuel Adebayor providing no goal threat centrally his contribution carried us at times. Will he stay on the left or being two footed will he move to the right if we sign another left-sided player.

He wants to produce more next season and there is no reason why he can't now that he will be able to concentrate on his football again.
