Levy delighted with Lodge approval, it's another step

Making continual improvements in everything we do, both on and off the field, is of paramount importance if we are to be a club who consistently, not only challenge for, but win trophies.

Putting a strategy in place and finding the right personnel to make it a success is not always an easy task, especially when it comes to managers, however in Mauricio Pochettino the club have found the man they believe is the long-term head coach they have been searching for.

Fundamental to that is his attitude. He insists that the players start to adopt the right mentality and time and time again he emphasises the point. He did so again after we had made it to the Capital One Cup Final on Wednesday night. He again insisted Spurs have got to learn to kill games off, not settle for what we have.

It sound simple but it takes a certain mindset to accomplish and most players go through their careers without ever embracing it properly. While Pochettino is making improvements on the field, Daniel Levy is making them off the field. First there was Paul Mitchell brought in to head player analysis and recruitment from Southampton, then there was QPR finance director Rebecca Caplehorn brought in to head football operations.

The world class training facilities have been open for a couple of years and next is a 45-room lodge on adjacent ground owned by the club. Planning approval was given by Enfield Council on Monday and that now just has to be ratified by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson. It's another step that improves the club and Daniel Levy was delighted to hear the news.

"The training centre is already considered to be one of the finest facilities of its kind in the world and this unique and high quality environment will allow us to further improve the care and attention our players receive.
"The club's first team and academy players are our most important assets and the long term future of the club rests on being able to deliver teams that is in peak mental and physical condition. Everything the club does, from the academy upwards, is geared to achieving success on the pitch and this facility will play an integral role in supporting that aim."

Tottenham have come a long way from where we were and Daniel Levy is responsible for overseeing our transformation from a broke run down mid table club with nothing to look forward to, to a club where the fans now expect a top four finish every season.

We have been slowly building our way to success and some fans get impatient but the reality is the stadium is required to go to the next level and we have a long running legal battle to get out of the way before we can begin it in earnest. There seems little desire to negotiate from Archway Steel, just a desire to hold the club to ransom, so it's the courts where everything will be decided.
