Emmanuel Adebayor Mattia Destro swap

I read stories this morning that Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed exit rumours for Emmanuel Adebayor which is a complete load of nonsense. He has done nothing of the sort.

Emmanuel Adebayor Mattia Destro swap

Pochettino can't simply say he doesn't want Adebayor publicly because he has to work with him everyday and if another club refuses to meet his wages demands then like it or not he is stuck at Tottenham and Pochettino would have to use him. He therefore has to be non-committal on exit talk and pretend everything is rosy, that Adebayor has a future at Spurs.

"Yes, I explained last week, he's nearly ready for selection. He's training in the last few weeks; his training sessions have been very good."

Franco Baldini has been offering him around the globe for the last couple of months, trying to get clubs interested in him and several have been linked, some have gone as far as meeting his representatives and discussing wages, whereupon everything collapses.

Baldini has many contacts in Italy of course and we have heard Torino say if he'd lower his wage demands they would sign him, Parma drop their interest after his wage demands were too excessive, Toronto  looked at him, he has been offered to MLS sides, two Qatar sides are interested and now reports in the Italian media suggest Roma are interested in him.

This could pave the way for a striker Tottenham have been heavily linked with previously Matteo Destro going in the opposite direction. Financial Fair Play has changed the transfer market, clubs have to live within their means now and so are looking at ways of reducing transfer fees.

More and more clubs want loan moves, a short term fix where they can remove a players wages from the wage bill at the end of the loan period. Equally clubs are looking into swap deals they reduce outlay leaving potential available funds to be used on other purchases.

Tottenham want Adebayor our of White Hart Lane and Roma want Destro out of the Stadio Olimpico. Arsenal have been heavily linked with Destro and there is plenty of talk in Italy of AC Milan offering Stephan El Shaarawy in a swap deal for Destro, while in the summer stories circulated involving Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Franco Baldini will not miss the opportunity to discuss the potential of an Adebayor swap plus cash for the 23-year-old  £20 million ($30.41m - €25.88m) rated striker who was the clubs top scorer last season.

Destro is not a regular starter this season and has admitted he may have to look abroad for regular football while Roma are said to want Adebayor to spearhead a challenge for the Serie A title, they finished second last year.

"Am I like the sixth man in basketball? It’s better to be in the first five. I like the comparison, but honestly my ambition is to be among the starters. The only thing that doesn't change is my commitment to give the best in every minute I play.
"At 23, you shouldn’t be considered a youngster, but it must be said it’s difficult for young players. And there’s something that should make us think - if a young player has a certain level of ability they go abroad."

Destro has a contract until 2016, the same as Adebayor. He has scored 4 goals in just 7 starts, coming off the bench a further 7 times, 4 of which were for under 18 minutes. He has a goal every 181 minutes. Last season he scored 15 goals in 1, 507 minutes goals.

He has pace, power, trickery and goals amid a fiery nature, he punched an opponent last season. He is rumoured to want £90,000 a week, which is less than Adebayor earns at Spurs.

Tottenham have discussed a deal for Destro before, we were linked in the summer so with Roma wanting Adebayor now is the time to revive interest and bring in a striker who isn't then going to cost the earth.
