Could Adebayor hold the key to Sneijder deal?

Tottenham are hawking Emmanuel Adebayor around in a desperate effort to get him off the books, he is being sold to Major League Soccer clubs and clubs in Europe have been alerted to his availability.

Could Adebayor hold the key to Sneijder deal?

A transfer fee is unlikely to be a issue, Spurs only paid £5 million ($7.56m - €6.38m) for him and such is the desire to remove the disruptive influence, plus his high wages from the books, that hard bargaining isn't going to be needed. Few clubs can afford his wages but the lower tax rates in Turkey provide the Togo international with an opportunity.

Wesley Sneijder is Turkish giants Galatasaray's current marquee player who they use as the bait to sell tickets and maximise income through jersey sales and commercial revenue. Juventus want to sign him and he has agreed a deal with them, although the two clubs are a long way apart on a fee.

Emmanuel Adebayor could hold the key though. Financial Fair Play means clubs are looking for more swap deals and loan deals so transfer fees are an issue. Galatasaray vice president Abdurrahim Albayrak told Turkish TV channel NTVSpor that Sneijder has a £15.68m ($23.71m - €20m) release clause in his contract but that Juventus only want to pay £5.49m ($8.3m - €7m).

Sneijder doesn't just get a salary with Galatasaray, he gets a house, car and some bills paid too so Emmanuel Adebayor may offer them a way out. He would be just the sort of signing Galatasaray want to make to appeal to their fans and is the player it is believed Albayrak was referring to.

"With us getting star players our fans, they will fill the stadium, we sell tens of thousands of jerseys. Power train both our strengths, we will be champions."

Signing Adebayor on a small fee would negate the need for a high fee from Juventus for Sneijder, give them a fresh marquee signing and keep Adebayor in the wage he is accustomed to.
