Will Newcastle tie be deemed important enough

The draw has been kind to Premier League teams providing the all with winnable games. Five of the eight teams left are from the Premier League but only one tie is an all Premier League affair and that's our game.

Will Newcastle tie be deemed important enough

Tottenham have been drawn at home to Newcastle United who put out a Manchester City side that played as if they had a divine tight to go through without trying. It's the same impression Mousa Dembele gave last night against Brighton.

His first few touches were woeful control with the ball bouncing a couple of yards away from him with when under no pressure. That immediately told you his state of mind, especially when you recall his words after the Leeds FA Cup defeat when he said he couldn't get motivated for the game.

If a player doesn't feel a game is important they won't put in their best performance and is several do that then the side is doomed. Fortunately we had people like Harry Kane prepared to sweat blood and tears as the saying goes for the cause. Why isn't every player showing the desire and hunger that he shows?

Newcastle is not a game Tottenham can be confident of winning at the moment, we laboured against a side 4 places off the bottom of the Championship. With a packed defence we needed to play with some pace but we did the opposite, it was an I'll do it in my own good time performance.

Against Newcastle that won't be good enough. Will enough players deem the tie to be important enough to give us a chance? We'll have to wait and see.
