Veljkovic to Middlesbrough

Young Tottenham centre-back Milos Veljkovic will be joining Championship side Middlesbrough on a three-month loan deal.

Veljkovic to Middlesbrough

The 19-year-old revealed to the Belgrade daily Telegraf that Tottenham and Middlesbrough have agreed a deal in principle that takes him to the Championship side until January. There will be an option in the deal to keep him until the end of the season if both sides agree.

"I’m leaving on a three-month loan. Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka called me to talk about the possibility. He was previously an assistant to Jose Mourinho.
“I am happy to get the chance. In January, a loan could be extended to the end of the season."

He has been captaining our Under 21 side and was part of the Serbian Under 21 side that put reigning champions Spain our of the European U-21 Championships tonight when they won the second leg in Spain 2-1. They had drawn the first leg 0-0 at home in which Veljkovic also played the full game. He isn't, as is being reported in numerous places elsewhere, with the Serbian Under 19 side.

Veljkovic will join Ryan Fredericks, our 22-year-old right-back who is at Middlesbrough on a season long loan deal where he has been asked, and Middlesbrough have agreed to, work on his defensive positioning, as well as fighting to gain first-team playing time.

An injury to their first-choice right-back has led to Fredericks playing regularly for them in the Championship. He has played 3 of the last 4 games and 120 minutes against Liverpool in the League Cup, a tie the Premier League side won 16-15 on penalties. Fredericks scored his.
