Further confusion over Yevhen Konoplyanka

Many many clubs have looked at Yevhen Konoplyanka the Dnipro winger who showed his ability against us in the UEFA Europa League last season.

Further confusion over Yevhen Konoplyanka

Liverpool looked and tried to sign the 25-year-old, we have tried, West Ham United have tried, Manchester United and the latest clubs to be interested are Italian sides Roma and Inter Milan. That may be as a result of stories circulated by an agent, James Lippett.

Konoplyanka was believed to have a £12 million release clause in his contract and his club were happy to sell him but next summer his contract expires so he'll be a free agent.  That means that he can arrange a deal in January to take affect when his existing contract expires at the end of June 2015.

A possible reason Konoplyanka has not been signed by anyone it has been suggested, is his off the field baggage. It is believed there are some, shall we call them unsavoury elements, that surround him. There doesn't seem to be any doubt about his ability but off the field baggage has scuppered many a football deal. There may of curse be nothing in it but it is a surprise he is still at Dnipro.

There is now confusion over who his actual agent is, who he actually has a signed contract with to represent him because remarks by James Lippett of World In Motion have been taken as meaning he represents the Ukrainian.

"There are many ready to get him to sign if he is available for free next June" and that he could "certainly confirm" interest from Italy."

Transfermarkt list his agents as Beratung durch Familienangehörigen which is German for Consultation by family members and that ties in with his father claims that he is the sole representative of he son. Oleg Konoplyanka has issued a statement in an attempt to put the record straight.

"Following the comments  from James Lippett of World In Motion agency to the Italian media regarding supposed interest of Roma and Inter Milan , it is necessary to clarify that James Lippett and World in Motion are not the agents of my son Yevhen and therefore do not have the right to speak to anyone on his behalf.
"As both his father and agent , I am the only person who represents his interests."

If Tottenham are involved in something it never seems to be easy and cut and dried, there always seem to be complications. It seems pretty certain that if there were not complication or off the field reason then Konoplyanka would have been transferred a while ago.
