Spurs keeper Archer stars in last game for Scotland U21's
Tottenham goalkeeper Jordan Archer has probably now played his last Under 21 game for Scotland and he ended his international career at that level on a high.
While Archer, on loan at Northampton Town, couldn't quite keep a clean sheet he produced a string of excellent saves to ensure Scotland came away from their game against Slovakia with a 1-1 draw. It was frustrating that the hosts managed a last minute equaliser as it ended hopes of qualification.
Archer started the international break training with the full Scotland squad before joining the U21 squad. There is one more game in this campaign, but Scotland can no longer qualify for the 2015 European U21 Championships so is expected to be replaced in the final fixture. He spoke to The Herald after the game.
His excellent performance for Scotland Under 21's on Thursday follows an excellent display in the League Cup against Bournemouth where his display was described as outstanding by Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder, even though they lost 3-0.
At 21 he is a promising young keeper for the future.

"It's been an up-and-down campaign with the Under-21s. It was disappointing to miss out as we set out to qualify but football doesn't always go to plan.
"I really enjoyed training with the full squad. Jim Stewart told me what was going to be happening and I was buzzing for it. They were all sound and made me feel welcome. They were all firing shots at me and they were all class players. Luckily, I've been exposed to that sort of level in England so it wasn't new to me."
