Lokomotiv Moscow's Niasse reveals Spurs have scouts watching him

Oumar Niasse has revealed that he was watched by Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund when he was playing in Turkey and that now there are scouts at every game.

Niasse is a 24-year-old Senegalese international winger/striker who moved to Lokomotiv Moscow and the Russian league last summer from the Turkish league.

This season at the Russian club he has played 27 minutes in 6 games but does have an assist to his name in that time. He played just 57 minutes in two Europa League qualifying games against Apollon Limassol so at his age it would be surprising if we are still watching. Clearly there is still development required but at his age time is running out, in 6 years he'll be 30 and staring at decline rather than improvement.

The lack of time seems to outweigh the potential benefits. This might just be a case of throwing a few names out in public view to try and generate some interest and get a move or it might be that he hasn't settled or is unsuited to the Russian league.

In Turkey he knocked in 12 goals in 34 games with 6 assists, a move to Russia seems to have stalled his career. He revealed our interest in him to Lig Tv.

"Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Dortmund scouted me last season, this really boosted my confidence. I rose from Senegalese club football, to Akhisar and then to Lokomotiv Moscow, there are scouts at every game now."

It seems doubtful to me that this has any legs. Spurs watch a lot of players as do all clubs, indeed scouts will work for several clubs at once looking for players that fit the profile they are given.

Mauricio Pochettino went to see the MK Dons victory over Manchester United and spoke to Danny Welbeck afterwards, now stories emerge Tottenham were 'scouting' the atmosphere of the stadium. Have my doubts Pochettino was scouting an atmosphere but that's the press for you.
