Huntelaar to Tottenham
Tottenham are believed to be a striker short by many including Tim Sherwood in his newspaper column recently. The usual whines have surfaced from supporters who will never be happy.
The Levy out brigade talk of Emmanuel Adebayor going to the African Cup of Nations in January, even though Togo have not yet qualified, leaving Tottenham with a misfiring Roberto Soldado and junior Harry Kane. They whine that it's a meaningless tournament that shouldn't take place, oblivious to the fact it may actually mean something to Africans!
No side is forced to sign African players and they all know the situation when they do so should accept the situation and not try and force their players not to attend. Representing your country should be an honour on every occasion and no player should ever be denied that opportunity.
Having paid over the odds to buy Roberto Soldado, a section of fans then wanted us to overpay for Wilfried Bony and take a massive hit selling the Spaniard cheaply. their alternative was to keep him and acquire a player we actually have no place for in the 17 man non-home grown squad, unless of course we didn't pick another non-home grown player.
That brilliant business acumen would see us in financial trouble in a very short time which, if not arrested, would see a slide back into the pack of 13 battling against relegation each season.
I'm sure Mauricio Pochettino knows what he is doing when he decided he was happy with what he has and that work is being done to find the quality of player we are loking for that is within our financial constraints.
The club did speak to representatives of 31-year-old Dutch international striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar before the summer transfer window closed but despite interest no official bid was made. Those talks have been ongoing with Tottenham still retaining an interest in signing the goalscorer.

Schalke are confident of signing him to a new contract with their general manager Horst Heldt revealing to kicker-Sportsmagazin that he believes he will sign soon.
Arsenal and Liverpool were said to be also interested but both have made signings, Danny Welbeck and Mario Balotelli respectively. Like Younes Kaboul, Huntelaar has one year left on his contract and can therefore arrange a free transfer in January for next summer.
Similar to Lewis Holtby who we could have waited a few months for and obtained for free we paid £1.5 million to secure him 6 months before his contract ran out. It may be possible to arrange a similar sort of deal and that may be what Tottenham are discussing with his representatives.
Last season in the Bundesliga the former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker scored 12 goals in 18 games. In total he scored 14 goals in 21 games and this season has scored in their opening league fixture also.
Huntelaar still has a few years left in him and could perhaps give us time to search for a long term replacement, if of course he wants to come to Tottenham, something we, as yet, don't know.

"We have not been receiving any transfer enquires from Arsenal or any other club for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Huntelaar is a fixture at our club.
"We are definitely able to imagine signing a new contract with him. There is no doubt he is a top quality player and a true role model. He is ambitious, determined and truly hungry for success."
