King expects Dier & Davies to be top class
Ledley King thinks it will be a tough year but is hoping the youngsters Tottenham have bought will grow with the club and take us into the Champions League.
His sees Pochettino's appointment as positive given his record of improving players. At Southampton he took players who were nearly relegated and turned them into England players and players wanted by the top four. If you can replicate that at Tottenham with better players to start with then there is no reason why he can't bring success to the club.
His words coincide with my recent article where I looked at a potential team in two years and have recently speculated that keeping a youthful improving team together under the same manager was perhaps our best chance of success, it is certainly a base to build success around, we can't just go out and buy it as others can.
Ledley King was speaking at the 'To Care |Is To Do' project, a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation project supported by BT Sport's The Supporters Club and the Premier League and run in association with local community partners like the Bruce Grove youth centre.

“A different manager has a different way and he’s going to bring in different players.
"He’s obviously done a great job at Southampton and especially with the young players and the English players who thrived under him which is a good sign for the club. It shows the young players that you will get an opportunity to come through and show what you can do and make the first team.
“The players that we’ve brought in, especially the two defenders are young players and they’re a view towards the future of the club and it’s important to bring in players that will be around for a long time and grow with the club and improve into top class players. That’s what I expect from the two young players.
“It will be tough. Every season it’s tough, every season it seems to get tougher. No one would’ve expected Manchester United to finish seventh last season but it was the strength of the league. So not just Tottenham but all the teams will have to be performing really well to be within the top four and that’s the challenge we all face.
"It’ll be a long hard season and we’ll see at the end of it who wins it and who are the top four teams but we’re one of many teams that would like to try and get in there.
“Some of the players, now having a year under their belt will feel more comfortable, and some will have had their first full pre-season with the team, like Erik [Lamela] who looks very happy in pre-season playing really well and I think that helps getting in a pre-season and everything, knowing the players and feeling comfortable, and I still expect the players brought in last season to have a big impact this season, as well as the new faces coming in and whoever else we choose to bring in between now and the end of the transfer window. They’ll be a positive impact on the squad.”
