Davies - It wasn't easy

Ben Davies, our summer signing from Swansea, got his first competitive start for Tottenham against AEL Limassol in the heat and humidity of Cyprus last night.

Davies - It wasn't easy

He spoke to the Spurs TV guys after the game and was delighted to have a game under his belt, accepted the side weren't at their best but delighted to have turned the game around.

"Yeah it was tough, it took some time to adapt to the heat and humidity but finally in the end, it was a little bit scrappy, but we got the job done.
"Yes it was good to tun it around, we knew we were far from our best. The goal we conceded was just a mistake by one if us not really down to them threatening us that much so it was disappointing to concede that early goal. I thought we kept them at bay throughout the whole game really and only chances were long range shots but it was nice to turn it around in the end and get the win.
"It was nice to watch them [two goals] at the back to see them go into the back of the net with all the opportunities we had. It was nice to see them go in.
"It's great to get that first one [competitive game] out the way and hopefully I can get many more this season. It's a great feeling to get the first competitive one out there and like I said hopefully some more to come.
"I was more excited than nervous out there but when that first whistle went you forget about all that and get into the game."

It wasn't an easy debut for Davies, the Cypriots playing the ball in behind him and the onrushing forward had to be thwarted by Lloris smothering the chance 12 yards from goal. That was reminiscent of Rose last season getting too far adrift of the centre-back.

Spurs were rattled in the first half and the defence you would say muddled through without looking totally secure. Balls inside the full-backs were dangerous on both sides, they are difficult to defend against if
played right.
