Chelsea submitted a £25m bid for 23 year-old French international winger Antoine Griezmann, who subsequently didn't attend the Real Sociedad kit launch.
However German champions Bayern Munich have also now also expressed their interest. Tottenham have been watching the situation but are unlikely to be interested at that price.
Griezmann has already let the Spanish side know he wishes to leave. French players are expected to be playing European football if they want to be regularly selected and although Real Sociedad have qualified for the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League Third qualifying round, they failed to get out of their group last season.
Tottenham target, Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin doesn't have any European football and has also let his club know he wants to move. If the Saints force him to stay they will affect his international career.
Everton are hopeful of completing a £4m deal for Bosnia World Cup player (why is everyone called a star?) Muhamed Bešić.
The 21 year-old is seen as cover for Gareth Barry and will be needed with Europa League football for the Toffees next season. The move had been in doubt but there has been a a breakthrough in talks with Hungary side Ferencváros.
According to reports in his homeland of Chile, Manuel Pellegrini has turned down the chance to take over as Brazil coach. The 60 year-old was offered the post after Luiz Felipe Scolari stepped down, no doubt after being told to.
Netherlands right-back Daryl Janmaat has had a medical at Newcastle and is set to sign from Feyernoord joining Remy Cabella from Montpellier and now 24 year-old Emmanuel Rivière in a £6m nove from Monaco. Busy times on Tyneside, they have also signed Ayoze Perez, Siem De Jong and Jack Colback.
