Tottenham have been watching Argentinian Marcos Rojo for a while now as they seek to make changes to their defensive personnel. The 24 year-old is also being watched by Liverpool, who use a very similar statistical analysis as part of their potential player assessments, and Barcelona.

Rojo is looking to move from Sporting (formerly Sporting Lisbon) to a higher standard of football and has expressed his desire for a move to the Spanish giants.

"Obviously I'd like to play for Barcelona, but I have not yet spoken with Leo Messi about it. I only know what is said in the media.

"I want to keep my head down and do well at the World Cup. I have clearly impressed in the last year in Europe, so afterwards I will see what will become of my future."

At the moment there is no firm interest from Barcelona but they are considering him so any move to the Premier League is unlikely until he knows whether the La Liga side want to sign him or not.

Sporting bought him from Spartak Moscow for £3.5 million (€4.37m) and are willing to listen to offers of around £10 million (€12.51m). The true figure may be somewhere in between, £7 million (€8.76m) seems a more realistic valuation.

Currently he is playing left-back for Argentina but he can also play centre-back, just the sort of versatility Tottenham seem to like.
