Is Javier Hernández the right option?

Inter Milan have dropped their interest in Javier Hernández, the Mexican striker who wants to leave Manchester United in search of first-team football.

Is Javier Hernández the right option?

As revealed recently 26 year-old Javier Hernández is one of the back-up options, along with 27 year-old Loic Remy and 25 year-old Wilfred Bony in our quest for another striker with 21 year-old Romelu Lukaku the preferred option.

Arsenal want Mario Bolotelli, which would leave Remy free to join us, but if we buy strikers while he is waiting for Arsenal then he could miss out altogether. Bony has options and Hernández has lots of options.

The Balotelli situation is no clearer with the Italian transfer window not opening until 1st July. Having said that, one interested party in Hernández have now ended their interest.

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio admits their club is now exploring a different type of striker.
"Chicharito Hernandez? He hasn't the characteristics of the player we're looking for."

Would he be a good fit for Spurs? He certainly made an impression when he first arrived and looked a natural finisher which is exactly what you want in your strikers.

He started just 6 Premier League games last season and has only had a bit part substitutes role at Old Trafford. In total in the league he played just 855 minutes which equates to 9.5 full games. His pass competition was 86.2% (181 out of 210) and in that time he scored 4 goals from 21 shots with 3 assists.

At 26 he is a better age than either Emmanuel Adebayor or Roberto Soldado and like Soldado has been short of confidence. His contract runs until 2016 and he will have no shortage of option after the World Cup.

The transfer fee if he came to Tottenham may be a sticking point, Daniel Levy would want a bargain for a player who rarely gets a look in but United may want around £14 million.

He is fast, will score goals but is not prolific using placement over power. There are no off-field issues with him and gives the impression he should score more often than he does.

We won at Old Trafford last year, but we only won because Hernández failed in front of goal. At least 3 times he cruised past Chiriches who stood and watched only for the little guy to fluff his lines. Playing regularly would help him in front of goal of course but then it would help Soldado too.

Unless his price drops to £12 million I have my doubts whether Levy would want to pay any more and thus doubt he'll be at The Lane next season.
