Spurs new boss Massimiliano Allegri

Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport have emblazoned their back page with the story that Spurs are in the process of signing Massimiliano Allegri as their new boss.

Spurs new boss Massimiliano Allegri

He is a 46 year-old Italian sacked by AC Milan in January who were in total disarray under his leadership. AC Milan were 11th in the table 30 points behind the leaders and just 6 points off the relegation zone. I think I can see where this story is coming from!

He did win Serie A though in 2010/11 during his three and a half year stint and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2011. He does have a connection to us though, we knocked his side out of the Champions League in the knock-out stages on our only venture into the competition to date.

He has developed some youth and got the best out of wayward Mario Balotelli, but his profile doesn't really match what Daniel Levy appears to be after, a top quality coach who will develop the youth and build a Champions league and title chasing team.

Reports in Holland suggest we are putting pressure on Van Gaal to give us a definite yes or no next week and the Italians are suggesting Franco Baldini has met with and promotes Allegri.

Could this just be part of the pressure we are trying to exert? Van Gaal has two options, sign for Tottenham and miss out on any bigger job that may or may not become available or wait for a bigger post and possible miss out on the Premier League alltogther.

The one thing he has consistently said he wants is a Premier League post so he has a difficulty game to play.
