Why Tim Sherwood was appointed is becoming clear
It is slowly beginning to emerge exactly why Tim Sherwood was appointed Head Coach, Spurs have been building for next season.
I indicated this might be the case in several posts but stories are now being leaked to confirm that Tim Sherwood is there to take a close look at the players with a view to weeding out the average players to sell.
I did begin to wonder why he had been appointed and searched for the reason. This one made sense to me and clearly it made sense to Daniel Levy. Despite anything said in public everyone knew and knows Sherwood was and is a temporary appointment. With the Head Coaches Daniel Levy wants (Louis Van Gaal or Cesare Prandelli) not available until after the World Cup and AVB slowly destroying the club from within an interim was needed. The decision was made to plan ahead.
Daniel Levy trusts Tim Sherwood's judgement and with his record with the youth why wouldn't he. In his brief reign he has shown how passionate he is about Spurs, making a laughing stock of the fans who winge he supports Arsenal.
Tim Sherwood is there to weed out the shirkers, to decide who is quality and who is not. The ordinary will be sold, the quality will be kept and allowed to show that quality under a quality Head Coach. Sherwood's words that players are playing for their futures at Tottenham held more truth than people at first realised.
Tottenham will not see a summer like last year with a host of new signings but will target high quality where needed. Spurs fans will tell you there are several areas that need strengthening but the situation must be viewed as how well a player can and will perform under a new quality Head Coach. Ian Broomfield has been reappointed to find that quality.
Assessing things with all that in mind, Walker is probably safe, Dawson is one of the few who have shown he wants to play for the shirt, he will remain, Younes Kaboul I expect will remain and be free of injury next season. Jan Vertonghen will try to leave and Vlad Chiriches divides opinion, personally I think he is nowhere near the requires standard. Whatever way you view him Spurs need a centre-back.

Hugo Lloris may try to leave but with Brad Friedel coming to the end a new back-up keeper will be required. Left-back is a position all Spurs fans want sorted, few rate Danny Rose.
The defence when you look at it needs an overhaul, but you can't change every position. Midfield is a little better because we have so many to choose from. The question is how many do you get rid of.
Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Chadli, Holtby, Capoue have all failed to produce what was expected of them. Livermore's future is uncertain, it will depend upon signings and who can be offloaded. The one guy of that bunch who actually seems to have a passion for Spurs at the moment is playing at Fulham! He turns up at all the midweek games, how Sherwood could do with him now. Gylfi Sigurdsson's future must also be in doubt.
Of those all five will not leave but as many as three will.
Up front Adebayor is performing, Harry Kane is not good enough and Roberto Soldado has quality but is yet to show it.
Our signings could be a reserve goalkeeper, a centre-back, a midfield player (probably left-sided), a striker and possibly a left-back.
