Purchased in the summer we wasted £8.5 million on an error prone defender who has no positional sense and can't head a ball. He frequently passes to the opposition in our own half and takes risks when one-on-one as the last man.

Even the great Ledley King said he doesn't like to see him do that and Ledley knows a thing or two about playing at the heart of our defence. Despite his many and obvious short comings, the fact that he takes an attacker on with so much to lose has endeared him to many Spurs fans.

His partnership with Danny Rose was one of the weakest Spurs have seen in years and the fact that Chiriches has a weakness when anyone takes him on on his left-hand side only creates further problem. You have to feel sorry for Dawson and Walker when they have had to carry Chiriches and Rose as a pairing and still try and do their own jobs.

Fortunately there is a white steed in the shape of German ourfit Borussia Dortmund who need centre-back cover for their squad. They of course can offer the Champions League football we can't so his agent may see the move as a good career choice for his man, I certainly hope so anyway.

If we can get the money we paid for the 24 year-old Romanian then Daniel Levy should bite their hands off and spend the money on getting Steven caulker back from Cardiff City when they are relegated at the end of the season.

Chiriches has had an interrupted season through injury and only started 13 Premier League games. He has figured in 7 other games in the Europa League, League Cup and FA Cup but has only just returned to training after being out with a back injury since the end of January.

  1. Are you insane? In his few appearances he played well. Even the most experienced and skilled centre backs could be forgiven for making mistakes in his situation. He was played out of position (he is a right centre back who can also operate as right back), and didn't even get a half decent run of games. Not to mention the fact our back 4 were constantly being swapped and shifted around when he was played. Against the odds, Chiriches impressed.
  2. Is this a joke? Yes he has had a couple of shaky moments, but nothing more than Michael Dawson, who also offers nothing going forward and way too slow for the high line we play. He's fantastic at sweeping up and i really don't think you can judge him based on the few games he's played, considering he was classed as our best summer signing until the Injury. This club doesn't need fans like you, get behind the players or f**k off
  3. Maybe you are a Dortmund fan? Vlad has talent and will prove it next season. He has something that Dawson and Vertonghen dont have....pace. He might make mistakes .....like the aforementioned centre backs.....but overall he is definitely worth keeping!

    • Well your the only one that does agree. And if u have been watching spurs and agree with this article then you don't understand football at all.....or at least the defensive side. Both Jan and Dawson have made more mistakes than Chiriches so far. Really is not even worth arguing about. That's like saying kompany is shit compared to Dawson

  8. The lad is top drawer, he has been blighted by injuries and he has a bright future... I'd love to see Caulker back with Vlad to forge a strong partnership and Daws as backup since Jan V has had his head turned for a while since we look like losing out on forth spot.

  11. Who the hell wrote this article?? Chiriches is better than Dawson and the awful Kaboul. We have missed him in the centre and I expect him to partner Vertonghen when all defenders are fit. You shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard with knowledge like yours...

    Chiriches comes second top on PL player ratings and top on EL ratings. You're obviously an expert though, so i'll ignore those.
