Spurs offically got the pre-season off with a game against manager-less Swindon Town, after they and Kevin MacDonald parted by mutual consent last week. They started brightly looking fit.

The Welsh Wizard waved his magic wand and scored again last night as he looks to better last season's haul, so it's pleasing he has hit the ground running scoring two in two thus far.

Spurs were sharp with snappy incisive passing tearing Swindon apart right from the start. It was only the Swindon keeper who stopped it turning into a rout in the first half.

In the first minutes Defoe had a shot blocked after a good Kyle Naughton pass before Gareth Bale got in on the action. A typical accurate long diagonal ball from Huddlestone to Walker overlapping down the right and a neat ball across the penalty area saw Bale to divert it towards goal. The keeper was alert and up to the task though.

A Huddlestone corner this time was headed towards goal by Michael Dawson and headedon by Defoe for their to again keeper make the save.

Bale then put one in the top corner after 14 minutes. A smart eye-of-a-needle through ball from Sigurdsson picked him out and wsting no time with fast feet he quickly sent the ball beyond the diving keeper into the top corner.

Lloris was then called into action to save with his legs before on loan Pritchard curled a shot over as the first half was drawing to a close.

The starting XI for the second half saw only Sigurdsson stay on from the 1st half team and he promptly tried a low curling shot without success from outside the box.

Rose overlapped and fired a cross across goal but nobody could take advantage before Pritchard again fired just wide, this time from a free-kick.

Another loanee, Massimi Luongo, then forced Friedel into a good save, tipping the long range effort over the crossbar.

Andros Townsend swung over a corner and Vertonghen smashed it just wide.

Swindon then equalised with a deflected shot past Friedel on 76 minutes. There was still time for Carroll to put a shot just over and play a superb ball to Dombaxe who put it into the side netting.

Andre spoke to Spurs TV directly after the game.
"We had some good moments. Overall, I think a good first show from the team.

"We had some good chances. We're trying to build up physically, some good points to take and we won't stop working hard.

"We have to congratulate Swindon, they played very well including our players on loan."

Then later to the official website he expanded a little and had this to say.
“We haven’t stopped training and that’s a good thing for our physical stamina during these games,” said Andre.

“We’ll continue to use 45-45 minutes to get everyone to a level that’s good for resistance, stamina and endurance.

“Football-wise, we had some good moments, but also some things that we need to work on.
“We had some good chances and the result could have been different, but overall we had good, positive moments to take from the game.

"Overall, it was a good first show from everyone and congratulations to Swindon, they played well.

“We don’t stop now. The players have to be ready for tomorrow’s (Wednesday) session, then two sessions on Thursday and then back again to play on Friday.”

Hugo Lloris soke briefly and can also be seen interviewed on the video above.
"It's important to work hard in training but to play a game against a tough team is good for us to be ready for next season.

"It was a good game, its important to have time to prepare for next season and have minutes on the pitch."
